I got the variant.
SHIELD Agent looks fine but doesn't work for me as a troop builder. The face is too standouty, not enough blend into the crowd. Decent articulation and sculpting. A fine figure overall. B
Skrull Solider looks goofy. But he should so it works very well. In his hideous purple jumpsuit, he's a perfect troop builder: generic, not too dynamic. Excellent figure. A

Nick Fury looks great, but he would really benefit from a cigar or a bigger gun. As a variant, it's fantastic. Plus, if you find more than one, he's a good LMD (Life Model Decoy). B+
Note on SHIELD Agent: I said he doesn't work well because of the head, that can easily replaced and you can have a wide variety of agents.
Overall, still an excellent two-pack.

I'm not really a big Nick Fury fan. I just grabbed him because I'm trying to collect most of the characters from Marvel Ultimate Alliance. All in all, he's not bad. He has solid 3-point articulation plus neck movement. Because his gun arm nearly pivots in the socket, you can angle his arm knuckles-up to shoot gangsta style. My biggest complaint is the shape of his head, particularly his chin and jawline. His lower face is just way too pointy. Nick Fury is supposed to have a big, firm chin, like Mr Incredible or Superman. His somewhat poofy hair further exaggerates his pointy chin. B
I don't have much to say about the Skrull. I was planning to get rid of him from the get go. I wish they had picked some other character with closer ties to SHIELD. Spiderwoman, Ironman, Captain America, even *gasp* Wolverine. Skrull soldier has one of the calmest, most blank expressions in the entire SHS line. C+

I love this set. Hopefully Hasbro will follow up the SHIELD agent with more variants. The Skrull soldier is one of my favorite villain Squad members. Now I hope we get a Super Skrull redo as he looks a bit silly next to his lackeys.

Getting Fury and a generic SHIELD agent along with two Skrull soldiers is a solid option that reminds me a lot of what Minimates does when it comes to variants and making sure to include army builders with worthwhile variants. Sure, the generic agent could be more generic, but it’s amazing what a coat of paint can do to make him and Fury look different. Full review, S.H.I.E.L.D. clearance required: jestergoblin.com/?p=5336
