Welcome to the club monkey.
Part of me really likes these figures, especially wave 3 but if you can restrain yourself from buying them all, it's pretty good. As someone who doesn't watch the show, I find some of the costume designs rather odd since my main exposure to DC came from the Justice League cartoon and a scattering of comics.
I wish the line was tied to the DCU instead of Brave and the Bold but since getting all the figures in the last week, I find some of them really impressive (like Blue Beetle) but I'm already tired of Batmen. I'd recommend grabbing a pack, like Joker & Batman and just seeing how you like them. I wouldn't feel right telling you to jump right in because the style is really different from SHS.

Personally, I love em. I love the cartoony B&B style and it seems they have a lot of characters to pull from. Some do have a prob standing tho - thats my only complaint. But I say go for it before you have too much catching up to do. (Jester got em all in like a week!) You wont regret it. ;D

Does it bother anyone else that the designs of the toys don't match the designs of show?

My Aquaman can stand.....sometimes. Like JLUs, Action League is made of recycled parts, meaning many share parts. Aquaman, Atom and a Batman all have very similar legs which can be hard to stand, but not impossible.
As for not matching the design of the show jester - what do u mean? Do u mean in the general look or just specific costumes? I find them to be pretty accurate, but I can tell ya - even if they werent Id prolly be ok with it.

Thanks for the input guys. I actually started DVRing the show to give me the excuse to pick these up some day. the real question in my mind is these Brave and the Bold figs or the Galaxy Heroes line. I wanna stat a new line but I can only choose one.

Just picked up the Grodd set @ target. For those on the fence abt collecting this line - this should push u over. He's MASSIVE. Ill try and take pics and put em on the wikia tonight. And yes, they had the cycle too - both run $9.99. Also for those wondering, the Batman from the cycle is a new sculpt with a helmet on.
And Monkey - Id say go with B&B. GH will be a looooong uphill battle that may not be as fun. Hopefully B&B will thrive just as SHS does. I mean consider all the characters that have shown up on the show. Lots of possibilities. No offense to the serious GH collectors but its better than getting Endor Luke, Hoth Luke, bespin Luke, Luke w/yoda on back, etc etc. ...but maybe its just me.

I'd say B&B like 7th for the same reasons. I'm a serious GH collector that has every figure and i think it would be hard to get all of them .. and it really isn't that fun. i have thought of stop collecting this line several times but them just decide to keep collecting because I'm a completist and i have so many so why not get more.. i would get this line myself but im too caught up with GH so caught up that i can only focus on the movie heroes like the movie transformer and rise of cobra because too much money and time goes in the Gh line for me.

Got my review of Batman vs Gorilla Grodd. I think this pack is a turning point for the line and not necessarily in a good way. jestergoblin.com/?p=1046

Well I took the plunge, or rather dipped my toes in with purchasing batman and joker. So far I like. They are just a smidge taller than most of the SHS figs, but I can deal.

Got my review of Batman vs Gorilla Grodd. I think this pack is a turning point for the line and not necessarily in a good way. jestergoblin.com/?p=1046I read your review jester and I cant say I agree. True, absurd Batman variants suck the worst - but for me ALL Batman variants suck. Im not a completionist, I only collect characters. So that means I have a drawer of maybe 10 Batmen that I wont display. And mind you, thats avoiding extras when possible. So altho a dumb 'jungle' motif is just that - dumb - it really isnt much worse. But I also see youre bothered by the design of the toys not matching the cartoon. I wasnt sure what u meant by it before, but now I understand. And to answer your original question accurately: no, it doesnt bother me at all. If I wanted accurate figs Id buy the regular line, but really, i could care less abt the cartoon. Look at SHS and their silly show. Who cares if the figs match the show - id still love em. the show is expendable.

I think some variants work great with Batman, like the all black one that came with the Batmobile, the black and gray with the Top or the classic blue and gray that's been released.
But given what's recently been shown for the new packs, Mattel has gone back to their traditional ways of just dumb variants - Jungle Camo, the helmeted one with the motorcycle that has BLUE gloves when the rest of him is black, the upcoming Chemical Batman that's bright orange or the blue-sweater Bats with the copter.
As for the designs, they aren't based off the cartoon and the drawings on the packaging are for the toyline and aren't from the show itself. The biggest offender to me is Green Arrow who literally looks nothing like his show counterpart in terms of style.
As someone who has bought all of them in a short period of time, I'm definitely seeing improvements. Wave 3 is very well done but these deluxe packs seem to have already peaked with the Batman vs Gentleman Ghost.
I'm not saying the figures should be exact copies of the show but they really don't seem to have any reason to be branded as the Brave & the Bold.
