A lot of it depends on how well Iron Man did for toy sales. I'm guessing one line will get two-packs, while the other gets three-packs since they will be competing against each other for shelf space.
I mean, it's going to be Incredible Hulk and Iron Man all over again with the films being released just a few months apart so there's going to be a rush of merchandise at first. And by rush, I mean not a whole lot. Hasbro has been playing it safer with unproven properties after the Hulk and Spider-Man 3 didn't live up to expectations. Only Iron Man was the rare exception because no one expected it to do that well in theaters.

Sheesh JG! You must be a marketing major or something...always with your technical mumbo jumbo. I think he meant to ask what characters we hope to get, not the marketing strategies vs economic indicators vs global climate effects on the price of plastic! Chillax broham. I would like to see: THOR MOVIE Destroyer Warriors Three Valkyrie Sif Odin Heimdall CAP MOVIE Sharon Carter Nazi Red Skull Bucky The Invaders Arnim Zola Union Jack Captain Britain

Heh, yeah I got a marketing degree just over a year ago when I graduated from Bentley University.
As for what I'd like to see... everything on FL's list for Thor.
And throw in Crossbones and Winter Solider on the other list and I'd be content.

That Thor/Hercules 2-pack looked alot like movie Thor, I'd guess that's how it's going to be released... and I wouldn't mind a Sam Jackson Nick Fury that has anything other than a fire extinguisher in his hand.

I would just like to have something original and economical. the iron man2 3packs kinda bothered me. it didn't help that the first wave was pure crap put there just to have something shs on the shelves with the rest of the toys. wave 2 was good, it was actually relevant to the film. I don't even know why the third wave was made at all. I don't want two packs or three packs for these movies, I don't want that many more cap or thor's, I would rather have something like the galactic heroes cinema scenes or the shs collectors packs. I would imagine that there is a scene in the thor movie that has odin's hall or some other large gathering where most of the cool characters can be seen together. give us that scene and a final battle scene and that is it. if you need to have something on the shelves before the movie that doesn't spoil the plot then just make that latest wave of regular shs be of the asgard variety. as for cap I would love to see a red skull decked out in a class A uniform, like this the original sgt fury and his howling commandos would be a nice touch as well, but I would also add diamondback to the list of characters that should be made. she was pretty cool in her run as almost caps girlfriend. I would ask for the original defenders, but only if they come up with a really cool new human torch sculpt, otherwise we have enough torches already. haven't we been asking for a green suited namor forever now. I actually wish they would stop with the movie figures. the transformer robot heroes line was perfectly fine when they did only the g1 figs. the movie figs just were not as cool as the g1 bots. if they still made the g1s I would still happily be buying them. all the rest i could have lived without. especially the whacked out beast wars figs.

Movie figures sell better than non-movie figures in these kinds of situations. The parents are more likely to buy a figure that they recognize over one they don't. Hell, the Robot Heroes movie line has been much more successful than the animated Robot Heroes. A toy line made for 3 year olds using character models from almost three decades ago isn't the most sustainable strategy. As for cinema scenes, that could be really cool and I'd love something like Cap & the Invaders versus Red Skull. But in reality, that seems more along lines with what the TRU Collector's Packs are for. The big thing is Hasbro wants to have figures in multiple price points to get parents to be willing to buy them. Having a parent drop $6-10 on a pack of two or three Heroes figures is a breeze and allows them to be a solid price for birthday present giving to children's friends for birthdays. While the cinema scenes price point of $25-$30 puts them well out of budget and the economy still isn't doing particularly well. Getting something that's both "original and economical" is an oxymoron in this industry. New sculpts - especially for properties not owned by Hasbro - are a mess to deal with. There are layers of red tape for a new figure to get made in a line like this. It's a lot easier to say "we're repainting X, Y, and Z" instead of trying to get someone to sign off on a new figure. Then there's the whole issue of hiring someone to sculpt the figure, getting the mold made, producing the figures, programming the machines to paint properly, and then trying to convince retailers to place orders. Every single step can result in the line being ended - Remember the SHS 4-packs? Retailers feel much more comfortable with big name brands like Iron Man, Spider-Man and Captain America over a bunch of figures collector's want. Another big issue is the fact that Hasbro won't make Nazi figures because Wal-Mart refuses to carry them. They'll be called "German soldiers" and will lack any decals distinguishing them as Nazi troops. Even the Marvel Legends Red Skull lacked any mention of him being a Nazi. I'm presuming Hasbro is going to handle this like they handled Indiana Jones and just stay quiet on it.

...why DID they stop releasing the 4-packs? They all seemed to sell pretty well, except the horrible Iron Man repaints like the one with Desert Storm Tony or whatever that thing was.

We also won't see a Namor in the movies, so I would be really surprised if we saw him in any sets next year.

Rising costs of production, rising licensing fees made Hasbro choose between the $10 price point or the 4 figure pack, they decided to keep the $10 price point for sales and drop a figure. When the SHS first launched, it was $4.99 for a two-pack. Now we're around $8 a pack.

It all about the molds. The molds are very expensive. the sculpters could be independent contracters and not make that much. I could be wrong but I think more factories would use people to paint.. thus bad paint jobs and the eyes being un level on my iron fist figure ... the molds cost thousands of dollars and to make more different molds cost more money.. back when the line started there were less people interested thus the lower prices since not as many figures had to be made as to oppossed to now where there are more people and more molds... so instead of them having to make a new mold for a new figure they use the same molds and repaint them..

Hasbro has a long history of being able to creatively reuse molds. Since shs line is more specialized per each figure it would be daunting. However those of us who customize these lil bastards know the difference a simple arm, head, or leg swap can make on making an entirely new figure. Kind of off topic but when will we start seeing knock offs of shs at flee markets? I just saw yesterday where chap mei has used the 25th cobra hiss tnak and the joe vamp to make knock offs. There's gotta be a company out there looking to try.

Okay, got to thinking today, with the way the packs seem to be going with what we have seen with Thor and Iron Man, as a mix of movies and comics, what about these for Cap pakcs:
WWII Cap, Red Skull, Baron Zemo Modern Era Cap, Falcon, Crossbones WWII Bucky Barnes, Winter Soldier, Bucky Cap
