Yeah, I think it'll just be avengers themes for now based on the apparent motif they've got going of "____: The ____ Avenger" and the fact that each of them and the avengers as a whole have movie hype at the moment. It follows that we'll probably also see Captain America: The First Avenger packs as well.
Even if they do strictly stick to Avenger themes for now, that doesn't mean they can't expand the line to other areas of the MU down the line if these themes do well. I fully expect to see some X-Men, Spider-Man, Hulk, and Fantastic Four theme packs at some point in the future.

I suppose youre right. I just figure its a good way to get certain characters out that we've been waiting on. What bugs me tho is the shear amnt of repaints. Where will they all fit in the line? Check out jesters list: Red She-Hulk (She-Hulk repaint) Leader (Silver repaint) Human Torch (yellow translucent) Falcon with Redwing (metallic color scheme) Logan (repaint, black pants) Evil-Silver Surfer Ultimate Captain America (classic colors) Doom Bot (wave 3 repaint) Thor (happy - wave 18 repaint) Hulk (slouching - bright green) Captain America (Muted colors) Destroyer (variant) Usually when we see new figs theyre paired up with their pack partners. But this doesnt seem right. Its all over the place. Im sure some will come with vehicles, but what abt the rest. We're talking possibly TWELVE repaints. This is why SHS has started to depress me.

That's true, but really what it comes down to is that we don't know enough yet about future releases. With the 2-pack plans apparently changing, pretty much anything is on the table at this moment. We don't even know much about these new theme packs. We could be making too much of this apparent "____ the ____ Avenger" thing. Two times is hardly enough to firmly establish a pattern afterall.

Youre right, but if u look @ what we DO know is coming....and count the repaints....it's kinda depressing.
Thor & Hercules Iron Man, Invisible Woman & HERBIE Iron Man & Tiger Shark Spider-Man & Arachne Iron Man & Red Hulk Wolverine & Polaris Iron Patriot & War Machine Black Costume Spider-Man & Green Goblin Spider-Man & Thor War Machine, Iron Man & Detroit Steel (movie Iron Monger repaint) Hulk, Thor & Odin Thor, Loki & Destroyer Red She-Hulk (She-Hulk repaint) Leader (Silver repaint) Human Torch (yellow translucent) Falcon with Redwing (metallic color scheme) Logan (repaint, black pants) Evil-Silver Surfer Ultimate Captain America (classic colors) Doom Bot (wave 3 repaint) Thor (happy - wave 18 repaint) Hulk (slouching - bright green) Captain America (Muted colors) Destroyer (variant)

It sucks that the line is trending that way, but that's a whole other issue entirely.
Personally, I'm not too down about so many repaints because they're making pretty good use of a lot of them with all these new characters/new costumes. Yeah, it would be nice to have new sculpts for these things, but how can I complain about finally getting Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman?

True. I was going to add that at least 6-8 of the repaints can be considered new characters: Arachne, Red Hulk, Polaris, Iron Patriot, Detroit Steel, Red She-Hulk, Doom Bot (if u count that) and maybe the Evil-Silver Surfer - depending what he's all abt. Luckily for me I only display the non web blast Spider Woman and the comic Iron Monger, so the repaint of those 2 look like new figs altogether. Still, we're talkin 80% repaints. That SUX!

I hate re-paints / duplicate characters just as much as the next guy, but some of them can be useful if you display your figures as teams, rather than altogether. One of these days I'll post my collection I guess, but for instance:
Dr Strange: New Avengers, Defenders, Illuminati Hulk: Avengers, Defenders, Hulk vs his Bad Guys display (Abomination, Leader, Zzaxx, etc) Wolverine: every team in the Marvel Universe
Does make it hard when the figures get pricey though.

In all honesty, I think I would rather the figures are re paints than them not coming out at all!

New characters as repaints I can somewhat tolerate. But the constant repaints of the main characters gets old. Its bad enuff we get a repack of a main character with every new character. And the Polaris is in our wiki under the SDCC2010 page. hasbroheroes.wikia.com/wiki/SDCC_2010Why does it seem that many dont know abt the wiki?

Wolverine: every team in the Marvel Universe. Multi-tasking is his mutant power.
