"Filling the GAPs".......3rd Qrt Custom Contest

Here we are..........starting our 3rd custom contest of 2015


After a few recommendations, I've changed the Rules & Limitations ( du5tin.proboards.com/thread/2683/filling-gaps-quarterly-custom-contest ) to our custom contest............just to fit our thriving customizing minds

BUT this contest, I'm going to extend the quarter (just to get us on the proper track)..........and you're going to NEED this extra time.

Here is the timeline for this quarter:
3rd QRT
- June 1-30 (Extend month)
* Prep Time .....JUL - AUG
* Submission Period .....AUG 24-31st
* Deadline for submitting .....@ 11:59pm
* Host Prep .....SEP 1-2nd
* Voting Period .....SEP 3-17th
* Winner Announced .....SEP 18th
* NEW Host Prep .....SEP 22-29th
* NEW Quarter theme .....SEP 30th

Because we have an extra month to work with, I'm going to "combine" two of my themes for this quarter.

THEME(s):

- "Hide-Out"
The first part of this contest is to create a Hide-Out or base for your customs. The "Hide-Out" has to be a custom project......meaning, you can't just buy a play-set and call it good. You are able to purchase a pre-manufactory play-set and REPAINT it (easy way out) or build one from scratch (a true customizer). The size of this project depends on your creativity, the "Hide-Out" has to be able to hold at less 3x figures.

DEADLINE for this project is JULY 31st.........post your "Hide-Out" here


- "comic book story"
The second part of this contest is to create a comic book story board. This story board has to be at less "8" scenes long........which has to includes your "Hide-Out" and 3x NEW custom figures. Within the story board, you have to introduce your NEW customs to us (you can also use other figures or customs from your collection to help with the story). You can re-create a scene from a comic book or make the scene/story from scratch.

DEADLINE for this project is the regular submission period .....AUG 24-31st (11:59pm). You will send me your "comic book story" by PM. You will be judged on creativity / storyline & your NEW custom figures.


DON'T POST YOUR NEW FIGURES OR STORY BOARD prior to voting period.....or you will be disqualified

To be honest, I'm not sure I will be able to submit this contest. We are replacing a deck, and I have been busy demo-ing and removing the old one. This led to cleaning out garage and now I'm just worn out.

I'm not going to be able to submit this time. On top of my home remodeling project, I had an unexpected surgery last week and have been laid out for the past 3 weeks basically.

Looking forward to what everyone submits though.

The first part of my Custom Contest is about here....tomorrow is July 31st and I cant wait to see what everyone came up with.

Remember, POST your "Hide-Out" here for the first part of the contest. You can post as many pictures of your "Hide-Out" as you would like....the more the better. Your "Hide-Out" has to be post by MIDNIGHT tomorrow.

DON'T post your NEW custom figures with your "Hide-Out", they will be submitted to me at the end of next month (AUG) with your "comic book story". Good luck and hope to see some really awesome creations !!!

Honestly I thought about participating but this month but I really had no ideas and/or cheap bases to contribute. I've got an idea (and some figures already made) for a theme but I had no inspiration for a "hideout."

.......I just wanted to give those of you a "nudge" towards bldg outside of your comfort zone, the "Hide-Out". I see it might have be a little early for this type of a challenge (sorry).

Hopefully I guys still like doing the contest and we can just start fresh again.......let's knock out the last portion of this contest (with some great customs) and then we can jump start the next one, DP&F style

Could I offer a suggestion?

What if you altered the rules? Since only one person made a base (nice job DP&F!) what if you allowed everyone to just do the second part of the contest, the comic story? They could use any bases they have, or anything else really, and still have to create 3 new figures. Just my $0.02!
