Thank you for the kind words gentlemen.
I was a little disappointed with how he turned out. Originally, I used a Pearl White paint that gave him a translucent affect like when he is phasing thru a wall.
But after I seal coated it, the finish looked almost like some of the paint was washed away, leaving that unpainted, single coating look.
I had to go over him with a Bright White instead and then added the grey highlights.
Look forward to your modern, Thunderbolts version! Get bizzy!!

AWESOME.........he is sitting on my cutting board right now, you bet me to him !!!
Great job....I almost went the same way on his design. Great use of parts, I didn't even think of using Rhino

I was 3/4ths of the way done! but not really cause i have no idea who he is. i just didn't want to be left out. Looks awesome though. Great sculpting work on him.

WHAT!?!? You guys are seriously working on an M'Baku?? I have wanted to make him (and other costumes of this style...Razorback) for awhile but couldn't figure out a way to make one without sculpting. I'm gonna have to break out some F-List characters to stay original around here! And as always, thank you for the kind words! OH! I have to thank whoever it was that suggested thinning out white paint with water for a smoother coat. (watertorture maybe??) I used to absolutely HATE painting white, but this trick worked very well. Now, I just hate painting MULTIPLE coats of thin white paint!  |

Yeah, white and other light colors seem to need thinning with water.
Mine is going to have sculpting; that's why it is'nt finished yet.

Yeah i really hate multiple coats too. I think my red is naturally thin. I made a red hulk (forgot to post it here. Will show it with my Thunderbolts group), but that damn thing took 12 coats of red. Now i spray paint all my Deadpool figures with a near matching red. Still take 2 or 3 coats if my regular red to cover the gloss, but that is still so much better then the 7 to 12 i was having to use.

Thanks 7thcynic! I have to try and keep up with all the new blood in here lately.
I remember when we'd go months without any new customs, and now I get disappointed if there isn't a new one every couple days!
If we could get back some of the other old timers (MutieJoe, JesterGoblin, YayaDad, Philibuster Pro, Docfairday, Meetthyreaper, MikeEvil, etc.) this place would be insane.
If any of the people I listed are lurking...YOU SUCK for making me miss you!!!

I start my design a few months ago but decided to do my large anniversary project......when I was done I wasn't ready to do the other figures that with with Man-Ape Now that WT pushed out Black Panther (one of the other figures I was working on) and you also talking about Dora......my surprise project is not so NEW any more. You guys did a GREAT job with them......!!!!!! D's |
