Nice group of customs you got there "Veronica Corningstone". The sculpting is really exceptional, with my favorite being Amphibius. Hope you had a good vacation too.

Thanks guys........this means a lot to me right now, going thru a lot of things in my head & customizing is slowly slipping away
Customizing has always been my release from stress or my step back and enjoy life's moments.......and with so much "crap" going on, I'm having a hard time finding that happy feeling / that reason to continue / that drive....... that want to
I look back at my work and ...........I really don't like most of it. Is this normal ?
I've been an artist since I was 13 & I know that I'm my own worst critic but .........I'm having a hard time focusing/realizing "why" I'm I doing this. It was awesome when my kids (& even sometimes my wife) were also into it or excited to see what I was going to create next.....that has now long passed.
About a month ago, I posted (here only) that I was "done" with customizing and collecting. I asked if any one wanted my collection.........I told my wife & she very upset that I was giving up/stopping my hobby. It was strange that SHE talked me out of it......I erased the post.
It's 0400 in the morning and I couldn't sleep........and I read your guy's comments, THANK YOU.
I needed that

I saw that post, and then saw it disappear too LD. That's one smart woman you got there, partner. Sounds like she knows you pretty well, and realizes what the hobby does for you.
I go thru these exact feelings probably once a year now. Since the line stopped, and the forum traffic has come to a grinding halt, it is harder to get motivated at times.
And for looking back at past customs, I have even come to the point of using a couple of them for fodder because I am so disappointed in how they turned out. And then I try to make something better.
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with the amount of charcters on my "want-to-do" list. I have finally come to the point where I'm not going to make a figure just because I have the parts. I recently started organizing my customs and I have probably 20 that I couldn't care less about. Then I look at my SHIELD and HYDRA armies, or my Bob Layton-inspired Iron Man villains...and life is good.
We'll keep each other motivated brother, cause that's how cool we are.
And don't think I didn't see right thru this post. I know my "glove slap" challenge got you all skeered, Doogie Howser!
Hugs for my man!!

I go through this every now and then too. It's actually part of the reason I started customizing SHS figures!
I used to customize primarily 5" X-Men figures, along with DCAU/JLU stuff. I got bored with the 5" stuff and focused on JLU. Then I got a bit bored with that and started making JLU Marvel stuff. Then I moved on from that and started my SHS collection! (Keep in mind this progression has been over about 14 years...)
I sometimes look back at an old figure and think "wow, that's crap!" Sometimes I'll "refresh" it and clean up the sculpt and give it a fresh paint job. Other times i completely remake it with different fodder!
Believe me, you're not alone. I go through "slumps" where I'm really unmotivated to customize. Then I'll surge and make a bunch. I'll keep figures in limbo while I work on others. Sometimes I'll get bored with my setup, so I'll take it down and start over!
But at the end of the day I'm usually glad I have them. Overall my collection, specifically my customs, make me happy.

Yep, I got got in to this creating new characters for my boys from duplicate figures we had around, but now after all these years, they are growing out of them. They brought me dozens of boxes of the figures I had made for them and didn't want in their rooms any longer. That's another reason I've stopped on the Heroes lines. I still feel the need to create but have moved in to more Star Wars 3.75" lines and can rationalize spending time and money on them them by selling them and not feeling too attached since if I wanted to I could re-make just about any that I sell.

Yup, similar place as all of you guys. The older son is less excited to play with them and would rather play video games. Also the wife decided she no longer wanted me keep all my Deadpool's on top of the desk in the din, moving them to a small (now full) shelf in the other room). We also closed the bank account tied to ebay, and now i need the wife's approval for any new expenditures. So any figures i want to do all have to come from my fodder box. Luckily, the baby just turned 3 and loves his older brother's figures. So now i have a new one to make figures for. After 2count's last contest, i just kinda lost the drive to paint figures. I have a ton of WIP figures, most of them already sculpted, but just getting my self to put layer after layer of paint was getting to me. Luckily i have you guys. You most recent submissions got me excited to work on them again. So i finally started painting my X-men juggernaut. Thanks for the inspiration guys.

So.....I was thinking about the New Year and how I take pictures of ALL the customs that I created within that year.
So far I have only completed 21x figures.......it's almost SEP, that's pretty SAD!!!
Since I was feeling like crap with my "production" work.....I decided to count all the "cutting board" figures that I have just sitting here
144x figures 2x bases 2x vehicles
.........I need to get motivated & off my "butt"
