terrible. I perhaps set me expectations too high, but I was severely disappointed. Especially considering I stayed up the night before my last final to see the midnight showing. My personal opinion, an origin story should thrive on character development, that's kind of the whole point. And this fell short. Everything about it seemed brief. And with a prequel, it should be easy, your ending is already written for you. You just have to make your story connect. But they made little effort to do even that. The special effects were atrocious and many of the characters saw limited camera time. My personal highlight of the movie was when Logan "ate" a fire escape ladder that Gambit was climbing, with his claws. I decided to torture myself and put the first X-men movie on just now; and very little seems to line up. I think Victor Creed summed the whole P.O.S. up in the previews, "SHINY!"

Well....I just woke up after going to the midnight showing last night.
My girlfriend loved it. She's a huge Hugh Jackman fan, though. It should also be noted that she considers X-men 3 her favorite movie of the three original films and has never read any of the comics.
Myself, however, I honestly feel disappointed. I'm a huge fan of Wolverine, Hugh Jackman, and the original movies (X1 + X2). I also, have followed the X-men comics since I was five years old (25 yrs old atm). Sadly, I wasn't blown away by the movie. There isn't alot of weight behind the story--at least nothing that made me feel for the characters (except for the elderly couple). It felt rushed, disjointed, and the special effects seemed worse than they were 10 years ago. Hugh Jackman did a great job considering how crappy the script was. In the end, however, I feel as though they dropped the ball in terms of lines, plot, and character development. It all seemed pretty forgettable to me and I hate to admit that.
There were some cool things in the movie, however: the first half of the movie (sick boy gains mutant powers, short nods to the wars Logan fought in, the awesome scene with Deadpool and his sword flailing, and last, but not least, Gambit.)
You really just need to see it for yourselves. I just feel that, as a comic fan, I was shortchanged.
-Your friendly neighborhood Reaper

Hoping to see this tomorrow, I going to go in expecting an extirely inaccurate movie and hope I like it. And from the sounds of it, I should keep my expectations low.

Saw the movie today, if you're expecting this to be comic accurate you're going to the wrong movie since they literally made two comicly accurate decisions and they were only for character design. The actors did a fairly good job with what they had to work with but considering they didn't have much to work with. Deadpool was great for the minute he was actually on screen (rumor has it that there is an alternate post-credits scene where Weapon XI is proven not be Deadpool). Then there's Gambit who had great actions scenes, but he seemed to be turning his accent on and off which definately doesn't work. Anyway there are some great action scenes but overall the movie was a little better than ok. As a comic fan, this gets a zero due to its horrible inaccuracies, but looking past the inaccuracies (which is pretty hard since there are so many) I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of 10. In my opinion its worth seeing, just set your expectations low.

Speaking of the rumored endings. Which one did you get? We sat through the first fake one where Stryder gets arrested. Then post credit roll, we got the severed head of the Merc with a Mouth telling us to hush. I had heard about the possible discrediting of Weapon XI as Deadpool and also of one where Logan's sitting in a bar. Was I treated to a third possible ending, or...more likely...is this the rumored Ryan Reynolds Deadpool ending. P.S. The disfigured Weapon XI is played by Ryan Reynolds!

no Weapon XI is played by Scott Adkins,Reynolds's stunt double. and I really liked the movie and if I don't hate it yet is because of how excited I've been for the past three weeks waiting for it but I still loved it.
P.S. I got the bar ending, but I saw the severed head ending on Youtube

I saw the scene with Stryker being arrested, thought there might be more at the very end but then decided, "nah, not worth waiting another 4 minutes for this weak movie."

Saw it last night. Thought it was quite good despite the critics (who know very little about these sort of stories) panning it.
Sure, it could have been better, but it doesn't strike me that it had a massive budget or that much of Marvel's weight behind it as some of the other movies have. Big thumbs up to Reynolds as Wade Wilson. Thought he had the merk with a mouth thing spot on. Shame we didn't see and hear more of him. Same with Gambit. I thought Taylor Kitsch was very good. Again. i'd have loved to see more of a character that has been criminally under-utilised in Marvel's films. Hopefully he'll get an Origins movie of his own, but i won't hold my breath.
I was left with a bit of a "what the f?" feeling at the 'Deadpool' character that we saw at the end in all honesty though.
Overall, i didn't think it was too bad. Not Iron Man or Spidey 2 good, but ok.

Ok perhaps the stunts and action scenes were this Scott Adkins, but whenever they did a close up on him it was Ryan Reynolds. It was more apparent when you were just looking at a severed head.

Just to elaborate on my previous 'review': -The plot was so full of holes and foolishness, that it was astounding it was approved. -The dialogue was completely laughable. -The action was lacking (I actually almost fell asleep a couple of times). -The special effects were sub-par. (Whats up w/Wolverine's ridiculously FAT claws?) -The acting was tolerable. -The cinematography was moderate. -The music/score was passable. Now I understand that some of what I didnt like concept-wise was taken from the Origins comic - that I didnt read. Well, if that was the case then I'm glad I didn't read it! This would then be an example of how keeping it too close to the comic (specifically THAT comic) may have been a bad decision. It felt as if I was watching a bad Mexican Telenovela that was obviously written as it went along. Ugh. And for those that think that maybe I had my expectations too high: I didnt. In fact, I thought it was gonna be bad. But here's what happened in analogy form: I walked into my bosses office not expecting a raise @ all, leaving room for a plesent surprise if I were somehow to get even a 1 cent raise. Instead I walked out jobless. I wish I could have my 2 hours back.

I actually thought it was pretty good up until the last 15 minutes or so.
The whole "back to back" thing was just silly.
And while I did enjoy Reynolds as (early) Deadpool, I thought the whole sword deflecting bullets scene was a bit much. That felt more unbelievable than the curving bullets in Wanted.
I too received the ending with Weapon XI's head. It actually was the worst part of the whole experience. Not what I wanted to see.
