G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra completely BLOWS!!!!!
About the only thing I see that remotely reminds me of the G.I. Joe that I grew up with and love is Snake-eyes and Baroness, the rest looks like Street Fighter: The Movie rejects or left-overs from Universal Soldier 3.
I'm hoping for the best, but I just can't imagine this being a BLOCKBUSTER, like Tranformers. It'll have good numbers, but probably less then expected.
What will Hasbro do with the toy line then? Keep trying to cram this cr@p down our throats or revert to the classic Joes? I'm hoping for the latter!
Either way, I think the movie series is doomed! What a waste of a great property. Don't even get me started on EA and that cr@ptastic looking video game!!! Real simple EA, don't reinvent the wheel- think Battlefields (or Call of Duty) with Joe characters; you'd sell a cr@p load!!! Imagine doing a level as Snake-Eyes having to rescue Scarlett from Destro's castle!!!
I'm rambling...........Hasbro, WB or Paramount (whoever's doing the movie) and EA you just needed to look at the old comics and TV show to have a HUGE hit, but I think you'll have missed you're mark.
Alright, I feel better now- thanks for letting me vent.

I agree. I think Hasbro is placing way too many eggs in one basket. To me, a lot of the appeal of the Classic Joe cartoon/toys/comics comes from the wide variety of colors. Putting everybody in skintight black outfits and accelerator suits disappoints me.
But who knows? Maybe it'll be a fun summer popcorn flick. If it succeeds and hooks a new generation of Joe fans, good for them.
I'm also fine with different continuities. As long as they stick to the basics, they've got a lot of room to explore. The X-Men trilogy was really enjoyable.

I'd be completely OK with 2 lines of joes- movie line and classic line, but I don't think Hasbro is moving in that direction. Here's to hoping that the movie isn't a total tank job- and that Hasbro listens to the Joe fans!
