We could also do custom contests if we generate enough interest. Folks submit photos of their customs by a set deadline and then the community can vote on their favorite.

I like the custom competition idea. Maybe throw some of the ones listed here into a poll and vote. How about feature a customizer each month, pick a few of their works and let us vote on which we like best. I guess I don't wanna be pitted against MutieJoe in a custom action figure smackdown.

That could definitely work!
Maybe a bi-weekly contest? Each person can submit one piece and then we vote afterwords?

Well....he's been ignoring me. I've sent PM's, e-mails, and tried adding him on facebook (look up Joe Melone Jr.) I know he got sick a while back (I believe it was a surgery of some kind) and hasn't returned to the forum. I think he may have been hit with a swarm of comission requests after I posted pics of Giganto and the Separation Anxiety symbiotes, so he might not want to deal with that nowadays. Even so, it would be nice to at least get an explanation from him. Like I said before, I'm kindof peeved because I had custom fodder shipped to him and he just doesn't respond to my messages. Hopefully, somebody can get in touch with him and bring 'em back to the boards.
Somebody wanna try contacting him for me?

I would say a CUSTOM CONTEST every month or so. Folks can make whatever characters they want for the contest and then we vote on our favorites.
As for CUSTOMIZER of the month, I like that idea, too. Get a list of volunteers who will showcase 1 custom per week for an entire month. That might be cool. Gotta find out what folks want to see.

Oh, I think a fun thing to do would also start taking photos of various teams and update them when each new set comes out. Brotherhood of Evil MutantsI'm good with a monthly custom contest. I could see customizer of the month being interesting but I don't know if any of us are capable of that kind out output with any regularity.

I am in. And having themed custom contests would force me to do more than combat heroes though I do have 2 Xtra special customs I just did so you shs fans will enjoy my work. Expect a huge custom update from em sometime this weekend.

I could see customizer of the month being interesting but I don't know if any of us are capable of that kind out output with any regularity. I'm down with both. Ultimately these toys are entertainment (and not my other children, so I'm told, and to stop talking to them, too) so any pics to entertain us is always great. What about a photo thread of SHS in crazy places? Yes, that means taking them out of the house. Maybe not the customs but, you know... I'm thinking of that ATT commerical where that guy takes his kid's bear on a trip and sends pics of the bear home. I agree with doc, I can't produce for a weekly or even monthly contest, but am happy to enter what I have made.

Everyone always loves a good wishlist-- thread-- except like AFI or Scum- we need to poll everybody and create a tournament/bracket kind of thing- for most desired SHS.. Let it run a couple of weeks- let everyone submit their wishlist of top 10 or 25 then combine those lists and create a bracket format..
If you dont like the brackets-- combine the lists and then do several rounds-- where everyone votes off of that list for the top 30 or so they want- and then the top 20 of those after that-- top 10 from that list and so on to the #1 pick--
It generates people returning back to the site to vote in later rounds-- and to see who won.. And say you are going to send the results to Hasbro --- you could do this for marvel first- and then SW, and move your way through the lines (I say you adopt the Brave and the Bold/ DC line as well and run one of those down the line).

The other thing is though-- although you do run polls-- you need to keep them up more than 2 or 3 days-- I know some of those ones you were doing on the SHS lines- were opened and closed betweem times I visited the site. I know it sucks but this site is just one of the ones on my message board lists I participate in - and I just cant get to it every single day..
Another thing is push yourself on some of the other boards-- I have tried to steer people in this direction on both Scum and AFI (and even my local DCSWCC and KSWCC boards) but I dont know if we are just a niche group of collectors or what-- but I know AFI has a checklist thread thats out of date-- maybe contact julius and work out an agreement with them about you providing the checklist on their site-- as long as you get to pimp yours at the top of the thread-- even push the brave and the bold angle their since they are such a mattel centric site...

PS I know it was a huge effort but whatever happened to the Database? It was one of the things that made us unique and had a real gee-whiz factor to it when I told people there was a place they could go and see all the figures in the lines they were released with nice pics.

wishlists - Thats a good idea. We can try and maintain one. As far as brackets - we used to do that but its prolly time to do another. Wood - I totally forgot abt that FB page. It was cool of you to create it. As far as the DB - it turned into the wiki - which WAS much better to navigate thru. Lets not talk abt what it looks like now thanks to wikia....
