Ive seen either just head to head generic customs-- or you can announce a theme- and then give people a couple of weeks to put in an entry--
They could be character themed, (such as a member of X-Force) or a non SHS related property-- say tron or something, or a zombie version, or require only paint no sculpting, or require using different legs, arms, heads and bodies -- you can pick a different one each month-- or have the winner of the current contest-select the next one..

As for names, we should give the contests a namesake...something that will be the same each month, but just change the number. Something like "HHF Custom Competition I (November 2010)" or "Customizers Assemble! HHF Custom Contest I (November 2010)"
The rules are simple. Folks can submit a custom from any of the heroes lines (SHS, GH, RH, etc.) It can be an upgrade of an existing character or an unproduced character. I think we just want one submission per person, so folks only submit ONE custom that they want to be judged.
We could make a graphic for the contest with the deadlines AND give the customizers a trophy graphic that they can put in their signature.
EDIT: I do like the idea of having match-ups to vote for the best. Depending on how many are submitted, randomly generate a tier system of 1 custom vs 1 custom with the winners facing off in a semi-final against eachother. Obviously, we don't know how many will participate, but something like that would be cool.
Just my thoughts on the subject. ^_^

Contest names need to be catchy. If some one comes up with the themes I can come up with titles/tag lines for the contests. Here are some ideas for themes 80s cartoons (more specific contests could be Thundercats, He-man, MASK, Dino-Riders, TMNT, etc) Cereal mascots (Count Chocula, Trix Rabbit, Capt Crunch) Cross-overs - ie Vaderine (vader + wolverine) Magnestro (Magneto+Destro) etc Random/obscure characters Dioramas Vehicles Unique sculpts Marvel/Hasbro artists ie Larry Hama, Stan Lee, etc Spouces or significant others Movie characters (Karate Kid, Ghostbusters, Tombstone, Spaceballs, Hangover, etc) Winner's choice (winner of the last months contest picks the next monnths contest) Video Game characters Original characters - must include bio and extra credit points for hero style art work

Wow! These are all awesome ideas! I dont even know where to start! And I love the idea of having a theme with a possibly catchy name and logo. BUT....I dont really wanna be the one to decide. SO.... Should we set up a poll for our official 1st contest?

First contest: You Rules: You have 2 weeks to complete an accurate hero based custom of yourself. Parts: Any hasbro hero line parts Posting: Must supply a recent pic of yourself in which you based the figure on as well as the finished product.
Truly this first contest is more of a way for us to get to know each other on a personal level.
December: "Deck the Claws" Rules: Take one of your many extra Wolverine's and spruce it up with all the holiday trimmings. Parts: Any SHS Wolverine figure Posting: Must post finished holiday wolverine in a holiday scene

We really should extend our presence to Flickr, Facebook, and Twitter. That's a great idea! On Flickr if you do a search for "super hero squad" you get even more results.

Doc I was thinking something a lil more simple - to get people going. Stuff like...
*80s cartoons *Movie characters *Video Game characters *DC characters
Setting up a poll for those maybe. I like the idea of doing yourself, But I think some may be shy abt that and Id like everyone to participate for the 1st challenge.
And as for the following challenge I was thinking of winners choice as incentive.
As far as Flickr - for that contest we should have that every entry be posted on Flickr and MUST have a link directing them here. THAT'S a good way to extend our presence there Im sure.

I agree with 7th. I know what I look like and really don't want to waste the fodder on myself honestly. And I doubt Yaya is hot enuff for me to care either! I bought an Iron Man comic today that stirred my custom brain. Unfortunately, I'm at work now and cannot remember the title, but I found a link that contains a lot of the pics...make sure you look for other links towards bottom of page. Many of you proabaly know they did an Iron man themed cover for like 25 different Marvel titles recently. The comic I bought has all 25 different covers in it, some really cool stuff. Anyway, I thought maybe we could run an "Alternative Costume" custom contest. And I figure everyone's prob got a "few" extra IM figure lying around. Check it out: www.hypergeek.ca/2010/03/marvel-unveils-more-iron-man-by-design-variant-covers.html

Actually FB after my industrial accident and years of re-constructive surgery, I've been told I'm quite good looking... I like the Iron Man fodder idea. I've got tons of him. It's football season. Customize your IM in your favorite teams colors! I've got an idea for the customize yourself with a twist and I can always use some more SHS Christmas decorations. So I'm good with what doc suggested.
