While I think some of the Mini-Mates are REALLY cool, especially the Marvel series 19 (I think? with Ultron, Mysterio, Apocalypse, etc.) and series 20, as well as a bunch of the DC Mini-Mates like Clayface, Lobo, Ambush Bug, etc., I think they are really starting to make TOO many. I just saw they're was a Platoon line coming out, along with Fist Full Of Dollars and A Few Dollars More. Those might be ok, but DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN? Who was THAT big of a fan of that movie??? Plus they also have Back To The Future, Star Trek, Rocky, Silence of The Lambs, X-Files, Hellboy, Battle Star Galactica, Indiana Jones, Buffy, you name it, they make it. Combine those with all the DC and Marvel ones, and all the Kubricks which are similar, and you've got a glut on the marketplace. Also, does anyone in here collect Star Trek Mini-Mates?? I am having a hard time buying the "Swashbuckler Sulu' (spelling?) mini-mate as being a "hot toy" and being in Toyfares top 10 for a few months now. i personally don't know ANYONE who collects these. Marketing ploy? Kickback? You be the judge...

Not a huge Mini-Mates fan, although I would've liked to collect them from the get go, they're just much harder to finds around here. I do have a couple older packs, but that's beside the point. I just wanted to see what people thought about some of the newer lines?
I'm thinking about picking up DC series 7 and 8, and especially Marvel series 19 and 20. Marvel 19 has 3 of my favorite villains (Apocalypse, Ultron and Mysterio) as well as Death Archangel, Archangel and Spidey.
The next series has Abomination, Vision, Polaris, Hawkeye, Phasing Vision, etc..
Plus I LOVE that they've made an Ambush Bug and a Lobo. Hopefully Hasbro will take a cue from this and make some more obscure characters...

Well I am a new member here but as I have 400+ minimates in my collection I feel I am qualified to take on this question. First X-Files, Hellboy, Indy, and Buffy are not and haven't been made in minimates. I do have Marvel, DC, BTTF, Street Fighter, BSG, and Star Trek minimates and they are all awesome. The new movie sets that are coming out aren't really that great (although I will pick them up if I find them on clearance because I love minimates). You are totally right in being amazed with Desperately Seeking Susan that was a ridiculous choice! My favorite of the ST mates is the Swashbuckling Sulu and I think if you collect ST stuff then you should consider picking that one up. I am very excited that at the end of the summer there will be a wave with Picard and a Borg in it! Minimates are so much better than Kubrick not only because they are easier to get full sets of but they also have a a much greater poseability and there is such a myriad of different licenses that it appeals across a large span of collectors.

Sorry, I guess the Buffy ones are Palz, Metz-itz or Kubirks or something along that line, same with Indy and Hellboy. I did see an X-Files set in Toyfare a long time ago, just preliminary drawings though, so I guess it never came out or it's another look alike company. But there alos is others I forgot, such as Speed Racer, Bruce Lee, Crouching Tiger..., Rock stars and K.I.S.S. But yeah, I only have 2 2 packs (Thing/Hulk and Spidey/Gwen Stacy). I'd really like to start collecting the Marvel/DC ones, I just have so many toys and so many ongoing collections, it's tough to find the room and/or funds. Where do you buy yours at?? I can't seem to find em anywhere, at least in stores.

Most of us Minimates collectors (I see a few of them around here) end up buying online from the likes of bigbadtoystore, stuckakid, scifigenre, youbuynow, jrstoyworld, cornerstorecomics and so on. Because I am the only person from my town who collects minimates I have to buy by the case. You can order the boxed sets from your local comic store. The best way I got my collection of minimates was by joining a forum called minimatemultiverse and trading what I have for what I need. This also got me the retail/con exclusives that would have cost a fortune on ebay.
Stores like Target and TRU used to carry them but recently decided to stop. There are rumors that TRU wants to have them again but all we can do is wait. Like I said before check your local comic shop or hop to some online stores. Hope that helps.
Anyway, if you have anymore questions ask away and myself or another Minimate collector will try our best to answer them.

Looks like a very cool set and I know a lot of people that are looking fowar to them. At first I was on the wall about the Invaders but after some good old Marvel wiki, I can't wait to get the original Human Torch.
They have them on preorder at bigbadtoystore.com and at AFX.com as well.
