Just saw it...and loved every second of it. It was 2 1/2 hours long, but time flew by. Plenty of action, lots and lots of story lines. No spoiler here...but Scarecrow has about 15 seconds of screen time, at most. Thinking about Heath Ledger's unfortunate passing was the only distraction during the movie. Lucius Fox has a bigger role, which was really cool. And there were some scenes that were so bad ass that people were clapping in the middle of the movie. I think it was fantastic. Can't wait for the next one...

I can't wait to see this. I am watching the last one right now to remind myself of everything that happened.

Saw it last night at Midnight. IT IS AWESOME! Believe the hype! Everyone in it is amazing. ESPECIALLY Heath Ledger. It is a great GREAT film. I'm not going to ruin anything for anyone but it is a dark film. No one gets out unscarred and many don't get out alive. There are twists and turns and the only one who truly knows them ahead of time(besides the cheaters who read spoilers) are the Joker. This makes the previous film incarnations of Two-Face and The Joker and well, actually ALL of the other film versions of the Batman characters seem pathetic. THIS is how Batman always should have been made. Even after the dark feeling you have at the end of the film (and you will!), the worst of it is knowing that the same truly amazing and ultimately defining Joker character that you just saw won't be seen again.

Here's the real question(s): where u hyped going into it, or when seein the commercials? Not me, and not many of my friends. Dunno why. The commercials just arent doin it for me, and thus, no hype. I'll still prolly go see it tho. Hopefully, its as good as u guys say and I'll be blown away, especially goin in not expectin much.

I loved it! It was great and better than the last one. I will say that the commercials do not show all of the best Joker moments. There is plenty to be excited about.

It's official, The Dark Knight has set a new record for the biggest opening day ever! The film pulled in an unbelievable $66 million on Friday, easily beating the old record of $59.8 million set by Spider-Man 3. The Dark Knight already set a new record for midnight showings, bringing in $18.4 million from midnight shows alone, surpassing the $16.9 million that Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith brought in at midnight on its opening day.
It seems that The Dark Knight is now projected to pull in $157 million over the weekend. If that holds, it will set a new record for biggest opening weekend ever. The current record is $151.1 million set by Spider-Man 3.

Ok, so I saw it and...I was blown away. Like jester said, its a great crime movie. You can almost forget its a comic movie even. I say its Oscar worthy. My only complaint was that its a bit long-winded. They coulda prolly cut it in half and made 2 movies and it woulda still worked.

I can't believe I haven't posted here yet. Wow! I saw the Midnight showing on the 17th, and it was mind-blowingly good. Anyone who had doubts about Ledger having the chops to pull off the Joker can kiss those doubts goodbye: Best FRiggin Joker EVER. And he proves in about 2 minutes into his very first official 'scene'. You'll see...I don't wana spoil it for anyone. But yea...this is the first time ever since the 1st Spider-man that a movie had a tone of hype and not only MET my expectations but absolutely blew them away! And TDK was a BETTER film than the first Spidey...and mind Spidey is my favorite hero of all time. I just totally feel that TDK would have been a fantastic movie even if it wasn't about batman and the Joker. It could have worked with any rogue cop/detective and any madman. So this one is going to please a LOT more people than a film that, say, targets only one demographic (like Spider-man, the X-men, or the Incredible Hulk). Plain and simple, it's a great crime drama. Yea, the movie was long but I don't think it really felt like it. There was a LOT of story to tell, and the flick paced itself really well...it never dragged, and hell, when it got to the end, I still wanted more of everything. Especially the Joker. It really is tragic that an actor that we can now all officially say was as versatile as Ledger will never have the opportunity to make another movie. Hell, I wish i were able to have met him, got his autograph and thank him for giving the Joker the embodiment he so sorely deserved as a character. But alas... At least the man will go out with MASSIVE Bang...being remembered for the role that will have not only killed him (indirectly) but also smashed all sorts of box-office records. RIP Heath!
Other things to note about this flick: -Eckhart as BRILLIANT as Harvey Dent...and if you know of his fate/evolution...trust me. This guy puls it off with such conviction you're going to forget all about Tommy Lee Jones and Billy Dee Williams. -Getting Cillian Murphy back, while not neccessary for me to have enjoyed that scene...made me enjoy it a TON more. Good going Nolan! -Maggie Gyllenhal was SO MUCH BETTER than Katie Holmes. She had more personality the first time she smiled on screen than Holmes did in the entire other movie. -Every scene with the Joker. He's so sadistic and screwed up that you want to hate him and still can't...he scares you into liking him because he's so unpredictable and, well, crazy. Masterfully executed! - Lots of references to The Killing Joke and Long Halloween -Just...everything. Go see it, it's the only way you'll understand. I so want tosee it again, but most of the weekend shows are sold out here already!

7th, i agree in someways, when the movie reached about the hour and a half point, i was like "wow. that was a completely well told story."
then it kept going, which made it even better.

There's so much posted here about it already. So all I'll say is that I agree, Ledger did a fantastic job in that role and I'm so upset that he won't be back to that again. It leaves me wondering which villain is next for this franchise.
I also loved the various regular people in the movie, new Katie Holmes, Grisham, Fox, and Alfred. They're doing a terrific job with keeping it grounded.
Also, my friend and I swear that for a split second when there's a flashing light that says "Catastrophic Failure" it actually said "Batastrophic Failure." Is this true or just too many years of Adam West in our heads?

Just saw it.
Brilliant.
If Ledger is remembered for his performance as the Joker, he'll be remembered as an absolutely superb actor. Eckhart pulls off Harvey Dent very well and Bale was excellent again, but Ledger stole this film for me.
As i already said; Brilliant.
