Finally, some DC figures I recognize. Really love this set, especially the skirts. What's your technique? And what is the spooky base for Shade?
Roulette is my fave.

Finally, some DC figures I recognize. Really love this set, especially the skirts. What's your technique? And what is the spooky base for Shade? Roulette is my fave. Thx FB !!! The skirts are made of putty.....and it wasn't easy !!! After I cut/sanded away the excess parts on the figure (ie, Marvel Girl's skirt), I put a flat piece of putty on her. After I let it dry a little, I cut the extra putty off that I didn't need (shape of the skirt I wanted). Give the putty about a day to dry, they I sand the figure & the putty so that they are about even (smooth, trying to show NO separation)......then paint That spooky base that you called it....is also made of putty. Just made a flat piece and then started bending it in different areas, then added a few smaller piece to give it that "upward" standing looking Glad you finally LIKED one of my "DC" custom projects.....Roulette was a figure I wanted to tackle since last year but I think SHADE is my favorite D's

I know that this doesn't really target the regulars here on the forum but......for those of you that are just "visiting" the site......PLEASE READ BELOW
So, someone contacted me about doing a commission work/project for them. This made me think about sharing my thoughts on commission work/projects to everyone
"My commission payment.......strategy"
I create custom figures because it's fun and a great stress release for myself. So my outlook towards commission work is probably different than most.
I normally don't take payment in money, I don't need it and then it makes it a "job" rather than having fun. I'm always looking for figures to replace what I've used for customizing, either for my own projects or commission projects (female figures are always in demand).
If I'm doing a commission piece/figure for someone..........I do my research on the character and we discuss the final appearance that the customer wants, that way we both have a good picture/idea of the final product. I figure out which parts I will need (if I have them, then no further resources are required). If a figure needs to be purchased (for either parts or to re-paint), the customer has to buy it.
(NOTE: If a figure needs to be purchased by the customer for parts, I will keep the remaining parts for my fodder)
Here is the style and figures that I use for customizing: -Marvel Super Hero Squad -DC Universe Action League -Batman: Brave & the Bold (mini figures) -G.I. Joe Combat Heroes -Indiana Jones Adventure Heroes -Star Wars Galactic Heroes -Dr. Who Time Squad -Hellboy Buddies -WWE Rumblers -Playskool Heroes (Marvel / Star Wars / Transformers) -ImagiNext (DC / regular)
Here are a few other toy lines (but not limited to) for trade only, I don't custom these size figures: -DC Justice League Unlimited (4.5-5 inches tall) -DC Young Justice League (4-4.5 inches tall) -Marvel Universe Infinite (3.5-4 inches tall) -Playmobil -Monster High (for my daughter)
Shipping is the only thing the customer has to pay for (if I already have the parts and NO additional purchases are needed), I don't charge for paint or my time.....like I said, this is fun for me.
.......now, with that being said. If the customer does not have any figures that I want/need, then I would ask for money.........but this is far and in-between. Maybe when I starting getting more clients/request, then I'll start putting a "price tag" on my work but for right now.....no money is needed/required.
I hope this gives everyone a good understanding of my thinking process into commission work/request.
thx D's

Though I would drop a line to show everyone that I'm still kicking......sorry for the long delay on my next set but I was told that I would be starting a NEW job in May. Surprise, surprise......they really meant April (YEAH!!)
So that meant a lot of man hours to get ready for my replacement and close out any and ALL projects/taskings that I've been involved in (and yes, that's a lot). Half way thru the month and I'm nowhere even close to being ready to pass anything onto the next guy or prep myself for my NEW job.
......with all that being said, I've not had anytime to complete my custom set. The figures are ready for paint but I just don't have the time at the moment. Even though I'm at my "cutting board" 2-3 times a week, I keep seeing that darn "squirrel"........which takes me away from painting........just cant FOCUS. One issue is that my room is a disaster, I have crap everywhere......from figures, pieces to make play-sets and the "kitchen sink" (the room is a wreck !!!!)
Hopefully this NEW job gives me more time to create/paint and play with my customs........which will allows me to post more (lol)
My 7x figure custom set is about 1/4 the way done, I would like to be completed by April 1st but I got a lot of other crap to get done before I can play.......I hope you guys don't mind the long wait
like always, thx for dropping bye !!

Its been a long time since I posted any customs but I wasn't in a slump......just busy !!! Juggling work, kids and playtime was rough but I got it done. It still took me a few days to "focus" on just one project......I have 4x of them going at one time (2x being playsets......more on those later). One of my favorite X-mas presents was able to help me with 2x of my projects, this was a great gift from my wife and kids !!! 2016 - Custom Set # 4 Secret Society of Super Villains - Turtle - Johnny Sorrow - Starro ......I hope you guys like them D's

Wow! Your customs will never stop amazing me! I always like to look through your new ones and see who I know. I do have a question though.... With imaginext and playskool figures have you figured out how to stop the arms/articulation points from scraping and tearing off the paint of customs.anyway I love your customs and was wondering if you take suggestions for figures I'd like to see your take on in SHS style? like for example there are a lot of cool characters from the spider verse comic I'd love to see, you've already made a manga verse spider man I think but would love to see more different versions of spider men ( we all know we have a million spider men in different poses). This was just one of my ideas I might have to do soon but feel free to take it if you want. Again I LOVE your customs, keep up the good work -Imagi

THX !!!!
Actually, I have a friend on a different site that wants me to customize a few Spiderman for him.....have not finalize the request yet (may take a few) but your right, I HAVE A LOT OF SPIDERMAN
I don't mind doing one for you.....no charge (made a trade, figure for a figure). Let me know what you think
thx again D's
PS......I still haven't figured out (other than taking them apart) on how to stop the rubbing on ImagiNext/Playskool figures
