Hmmm... I might have to try to get into apoxy and all that, have never tried my hand at it before. Might have to check my local hobby lobby and see what they've got. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hey there everyone, been working on my entry, but while I was waiting for him to dry I also decided to FINALLY get this one finished up (Have had him sitting on my work station for about a year half finished) I was originally just going to repaint a Thing and presto, but hated all the creases, just didn't look right. so after sanding him down for who knows how long (and causing one of my sanding tools on my drmeel to melt or so it appears, or just severely wore it down from how long and how many grooves he had, lol.). So without further delay I present to all you ladies and gents, boys and girls, children of all ages.... Hannu Hope you all enjoy. (There you go Deadpool, one of a few customs I hope to have finished between now and the contest, lol)

Hey everyone now that my contest entries are completed I am onto my next project. I am trying to work on some JSA figures. I have always loved Alex Ross's version of Sandman and I am trying to figure out some ideas on how to pull him off. The head is the movie cobra viper head (the one DP is using for his flash venom) with the top sliced off to fit an Indian Jones hat on the top of it. Hands I'm thinking either bobby drake or possibly Cad Bane with some tinkering to them. Legs I am thinking CH Duke or CH Cobra Commander (comic version). Torso is where I am currently stumped on this figure... I have a few ideas, but would like to hear some suggestions you guys might have.

The Viper head, Indy hat, Drake hands all sound good. If you have Indy fir the hat his legs should work too. I don't know of any torso like that so you might need to make do with a movie Sabretooth trenchcoat.

Movie Sabretooth might be good... except his head doesn't come off. Just means a little extra work. Movie Nick fury might work too. He has the trench coat the coat that comes the closest to closing. So it should be easy to sculpt over it. Movie cobra commander might work for that too.

I use Super Sculpey, $13.99 for a 1 pound box at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. It's a little more expensive than Sculpey but doesn't smear on your fingers or tools. I use dental or manicure picks as tools; a toothpick would work too. If you wet your fingers, you leave fewer fingerprints. You can bake it if you don't have it on the figure pvc (which melts in the oven). I often use screws to attach limbs (see my how to guide) or JB Weld 2 part epoxy (holds better than super glue and isn't as runny). You can sculpt it on a figure and either boil it in the microwave for a couple of minutes or (if the Sculpey isn't more than a few millimeters thick) use a hair dryer foe a couple of minutes.

I use Milliput (standard. Yellow-grey). it like $7.99 at Hobby Lobby for a 4oz pack. But that 4 oz had lasted me through all my customs so far. only in the most minor sense does it stick to you fingers but never enough to mess up your piece. no where as bad as sculpey3. Haven't tried super sculpey. damp fingers a tools help a ton! Nice thing is that is is basically a 2 part apoxy, so no oven heating, or boiling required. It's hard and ready to sand or paint in 12 hours. I find you can get about 2 hours of work time our of it. maybe more if you are just scrapping parts off. After 2 hours it can be really hard to put it on a piece. Works well with quick small applications. I used to just use a toothpick and my fingernail, and that worked fine, but lately have switch to sculpting tools. i highly recommend it.

My Joker Red Hood has inspired me to try some other accessories for some of my current projects (like the latest wip I posted) with this one I am trying (and crossing my fingers it looks as good as I am imagining it) interchangeable hands (just the right one for now...) Can't wait to finish it up and hope it turns out alright so I can show it off. Another item I am working on is a pose-able cape for a special project for someone...

Hey everyone now that I am healed up and finally got some more red paint I was finally able to finish up the first wip I posted recently. I now introduce you all to my Solar. (not happy with his symbol still...) If anyone doesn't know who he is, he is from Valiant comics. I have wanted to make him when I first got the Astonishing Cyclops figure, but hated the pose so much that I waited until I finally got the Cyclops that came with Marvel Girl (thanks again D). I was just going to do a repaint, but the legs and arms didn't look right for Solar so decided to try this build out. Kind of glad with the outcome, but seea few spots I didn't smooth out completely trying to shave the torso to make it flush with the legs. Hope you all like him.
