Loong time no post!!!!! here are some superhero squad quickies, these are the only ones i managed between my very busy schedule! CABLE REPAINT got a shs cable with really bad paint apps, plus, i hate that grey non-metallic looking arm! so i wanted to clean up the paints, then it came to me to try and play around with it, experiment with the combination of blue and brown, and here's what came out! STRYFE i already have two magnetos, one from the 2-pack with cyke, the other from the boxset, originally i had planned to make an avalanche from the boxset version but news of an avalanche in the next waves made me think of something else, so i thought of stryfe!! changed the hands to make this pose voila! faceoff! clone 2-pack cable/deadpool! Thanks for viewing!

Way to make the Cable on my shelf look really bland! But seriously this repaint is awesome. I was never a fan a Stryfe but he looks tight too. Great Job!

Yeah, That Cable looks a million times better then the original. Hasbro need to get their quality control up on the paint apps.

Great work, dude! I had to fix the paint on my cable as well. though I didn't go with the brown duds. I stuck with the blue and yellows, but cleaned them up and gave him an entirely silver left arm. Looks infinately better!

Mind if I ask how you get that "shadow effect" in the creases of the pieces that are painted silver? Is it an undercoat with a diff color maybe?

It could be a black undercoat with a silver drybrush, or it could be a silver arm with a black wash, which is what I think he did.
- A drybrush is when you have little/no paint on your brush (wipe it on a napkin or whatever) and almost dust the figure with it. This gets the paint only on the high points. - A wash is when you heavily water down paint, then spread it over the area you're working on. The watery paint runs into all the crevices, and with some wiping you can get the paint only in the crevices. After the water evaporates, you're left with paint in the low points.
You might've already known what dry brushing was, but I thought I'd throw that in there too.

Thanks for the knowledge darth! I'm in no way a painter, so I will take all the help I can get. Everything you said makes total sense too so I'm ready to give it a go. I love that effect, so I'm glad to hear it's not something that is terribly difficult to achieve.

One more ?...is this blackwash procedure what is commonly used to accentuate muscle definition also? Would there be a time where you would "wash" with a different color maybe?

ei sorry for the late response bros, been really busy lately.. i used black undercoat with silver drybrush on cable's left arm sir floridaboy68 - yep, the wash and drybrush procedures are commonly used to accentuate muscle definition, and other details such as cloth folds, and yes, other colors may be used, let me give you an example: i dont know if its that obvious in the pics but i used a lot of drybrushing in this toad i made a few months back: shirt: dark grey base, lighter grey drybrush sleeves and pants: orange base, yellow orange drybrush skin:darker flesh base, lighter flesh drybrush hope that helped! and thanks for viewing my custom..
